The Lip Bar Hits the Bullseye!

At one point, The Lip Bar, founded in 2012, was featured on the hit show Shark Tank, hoping for one of the sharks to take a chance on the newly created lipstick line. The sharks were unmoved and downright cruel. Kevin O’Leary, who deemed himself “Mr. Wonderful” referred to the women as colorful cockroaches. The owner, Melissa Butler, frustrated with the awful chemicals in beauty products, created vegan and cruelty-free products that are colorful, fun, and affordable. The products range from $12-$14.

On The Lip Bar’s website, Melissa leaves a message to women the world over.
“I am passionate about creating an inclusive narrative on what beauty is and reminding women that we don’t have to settle for anything. You are beautiful just the way you are. You don’t have to transform to look like the next “It Girl.” You don’t have to do anything but be you, because you are enough.”

Melissa didn’t let the negativity deter her from the vision she saw for her company. Through perseverance, hard work, and brain power, Melissa took the lemons thrown at her on Shark Tank and made lemonade. She has created a brand that gives women confidence and a pop of color. The Lip Bar is now sold in Target Stores.
